Here's an incomplete list of City gods, their domains, their followers and centres of worship and power, and their manifestations.

Respite | Rest, Sanctuary, Safety, Warmth | Respite is the City God of Rest, Sanctuary and Safety. In mortal life they were a powerful cleric devoted to serving the community, providing food, shelter, and warmth to those in need across the City. They built the Grand Refuge, a temple in the 30th that functions as a homeless shelter and soup kitchen, and the culture of the district quickly formed around it. When they died, the respect and goodwill the community felt for them was so great that they ascended, becoming a City God that watches over and protects all those in need of sanctuary and respite. Their body is encased in a huge crystal at the centre of the Grand Refuge, where they can still be seen sleeping peacefully. Their Cult, made up of Clerics, Paladins, and other acolytes works tirelessly to support the growing community that relies on the Refuge. Respite manifests both through these agents and in more direct ways, heating the cobbles under those sleeping in the streets, or shifting the walls so an abandoned room from the 19th creates a shelter for the night (called a Respite Sanctuary). |
The Messenger | Messengers, Post, Speed, Pigeons | In his mortal life, the Messenger seeked to address the insecurity and unreliability of the many different guilds of messengers and couriers in the City. He founded the Messenger's Order, an order of monks that treated quick and safe delivery of messages and packages as a sacred duty. He trained his order not only in speed and diligence, but in martial arts, so that they could protect packages from the many thieves that plagued the streets, both in the City and beyond. He also constructed three great towers to house messenger pigeons, who could quickly relay messages between frequent contacts. These dovecotes soon became central parts of Labyrinth's communication and postal system, as the superior service of the Order won out over the alternatives. The extent to which the City's relied on his service meant that when he died, he ascended to godhood within the walls, taking up residence in his main tower in the 26th. From there, he now watches over his order, blessing them with speed and protection, and cares for the roost of messenger pigeons that make their home at the top of the tower. Today, the Messenger's Order remains the most dominant force in deliveries within the City and beyond, with the Dovecote Towers in the 26th, 2nd, and 15th coordinating post across the world. The Messenger is depicted as a tall, lithe humanoid figure of light, with wings of iridescent pigeon feathers. |
